About

Scientist.
Builder.
Human.

I am a computer scientist, entrepreneur, and CEO with degrees from Penn State, Kutztown University, and MIT. I lead Quelm Inc, Quelm Health LLC, and Quelm Mexico, alongside MindScape Retreat, Cozumel Cruise Excursions, and Cozumel Cruise Tours. Each company exists because I believe technology, used with intention, can help people heal and live better.

In 2017, I went through an Ibogaine treatment that changed how I saw my life and my work. Shortly after, I lost my mother to substance abuse. Those two experiences made my direction clear. Everything I have built since has been aimed at making real healing more accessible to more people.

The Journey

Where I Came From

My work today is rooted in two experiences: a personal encounter with Ibogaine in 2017 that I did not expect to change my life, and the loss of my mother to substance abuse shortly after.

Early Career

Building the Technical Foundation

I studied computer science, information systems, and business administration across three universities. I spent my early career solving technical problems, building software, and learning how organizations work. I was good at it. But I kept feeling like the work was missing something important.

2017

Ibogaine

In 2017, I went through an Ibogaine treatment. I did not go in expecting much. What happened was unlike anything I had experienced before. Old patterns, grief, and things I had pushed down for years came to the surface and cleared in a way no medication had come close to. I came out of it knowing I wanted to dedicate serious resources to making this kind of healing available to more people.

"For the first time, I understood what real healing felt like."
Shortly After

Losing My Mother

Not long after my own experience, my mother died from substance abuse. She was someone I loved deeply, and she lost her life to a disease that our healthcare system has consistently failed to treat with the seriousness it deserves.

Her death made my direction clear. I committed to building programs, platforms, and companies that give people access to real, effective treatment before it is too late. That commitment has driven every decision I have made since.

"She deserved better. So does everyone facing what she faced."
Building

Putting the Work Into Practice

I took my background in technology and business and started building. Retreat programs for people in addiction and trauma. Educational resources on plant medicine and psychedelic-assisted therapy. Technology platforms designed to connect people with effective care. Each company is a direct response to a gap I saw and knew I could help close.

Today

Six Companies, One Direction

Today I run six companies across health technology, clinical research, international operations, and travel. The technical training, the business experience, and the personal history all point in the same direction. There is still a lot of work to do, and I intend to do it.

Education

Academic Foundation

Three universities, three disciplines. Computer science, information systems, and business administration gave me the foundation to build technical products and run organizations at the same time.

PSU
Pennsylvania State University

Computer Science

Penn State's rigorous CS program forged the analytical foundations — algorithms, data structures, systems design, and software engineering principles — that underpin every technical decision I make. Here, I learned that complexity is not the enemy; it is the material you learn to shape.

KU
Kutztown University

Information Science & Business Administration

Kutztown bridged the gap between information architecture and business strategy — teaching me how knowledge flows through organizations, how data drives decisions, and how to build ventures that are both technically sound and commercially durable. The dual lens has informed every company I have founded.

MIT
Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Graduate Studies — Technology & Innovation

MIT sharpened the conviction that technology is not a product — it is a force that, wielded with precision and purpose, can solve humanity's most profound challenges. Graduate study at MIT instilled the systems thinking, innovation methodology, and intellectual discipline that now drive everything I build.

Ventures

Six Companies,
One Mission

I am the CEO and founder of six companies spanning health technology, clinical research, international operations, and travel. Each one was built to solve a specific problem I saw firsthand.

Technology & Health

Technology · CEO

Quelm Inc

Quelm Inc is the parent technology company behind the Quelm ecosystem. We build AI-powered mental health and wellness software, including the Quelm app, which helps users navigate addiction recovery, mental health treatment, and personal development with personalized guidance and evidence-based resources.

The work is grounded in my personal experience with psychedelic-assisted healing and the belief that the right technology can make effective treatment accessible to far more people.

Clinical Health · CEO

Quelm Health LLC

Quelm Health LLC is the clinical and research entity within the Quelm portfolio. We develop evidence-based, regulatory-compliant frameworks for psychedelic-assisted therapy and integrative behavioral health, including clinical trial protocols and FDA-pathway work.

The treatments I have seen work deserve to be held to the highest clinical standards. Quelm Health exists to make sure they are.

International · CEO

Quelm Mexico

Quelm Mexico is our Mexico-based operations company. We develop healing infrastructure, retreat partnerships, and community wellness programs throughout Mexico, a country with strong roots in plant medicine and a growing integrative health community.

Quelm Mexico connects local healing traditions with the clinical and technological resources of the broader Quelm organization.

Health & Healing · Founder

MindScape Retreat

MindScape Retreat offers structured healing programs for addiction recovery, trauma, and mental health. We provide medically supervised environments where people can access psychedelic-assisted therapies, somatic healing, and individualized therapeutic support.

This is the kind of place I wish had been available to my mother. Every program we offer is built with that in mind.

Travel & Hospitality

Shore Excursions · Founder

Cozumel Cruise Excursions

Cozumel Cruise Excursions is a shore excursion company based in Cozumel, Mexico. We connect cruise passengers with the natural beauty and culture of the Yucatan Peninsula, from coral reef diving to local culinary tours.

Good experiences in the world matter. This company is a straightforward expression of that.

Cruise Tours · Founder

Cozumel Cruise Tours

Cozumel Cruise Tours is a cruise tour and destination programming company covering Cozumel and the Mexican Caribbean. We design itineraries that give passengers a genuine experience of the region, not just a standard tourist route.

We have been operating in Cozumel long enough to know what actually makes a trip worth remembering.

Technology & Vision

Science in Service
of Healing

My degrees in Computer Science, Information Science, and Business Administration were not separate tracks. Each one trained a different part of how I think and build. Computer science taught me to model systems. Information science taught me how knowledge moves and shapes decisions. Business administration taught me how to build organizations that last. I use all three every day.

  • Digital health platform architecture & development
  • AI-assisted therapeutic tools and personalization engines
  • Psychedelic medicine research, education & policy advocacy
  • Behavioral health technology & outcome measurement
  • Data-driven program optimization for retreat models
  • Cross-cultural healing modality integration
  • Harm reduction education and community systems
Ibogaine Advocacy & Education

Recognized as a credible, informed voice on Ibogaine-assisted treatment for addiction and PTSD. Committed to responsible, evidence-based frameworks that protect patients and advance clinical access.

Technology as a Bridge

Building platforms that dismantle the geographic, financial, and informational barriers that keep those most in need from receiving effective, dignified care.

Entrepreneurship with Ethics

Every major business decision I make gets tested against a simple question: does this help or harm the people it touches? I believe companies built on ethical foundations last longer. Profitability and purpose can coexist. I build as if they must.

The Emerging Science of Transformation

I follow the science on psychedelic-assisted therapy, neuroplasticity, and integrative medicine closely. What was fringe research a decade ago is now entering clinical trials. I intend to contribute to that shift, not just watch it happen.

Systemic & Community Impact

Beyond individual healing — working toward policy reform, harm reduction networks, and community-based support ecosystems for those navigating addiction and mental health crises nationwide.

Areas of Impact

The Work That Matters Most

Addiction treatment is changing. The science is improving and the stigma is slowly lifting. I am working to accelerate both.

107K+
Drug Overdose Deaths Annually in the US

This is not a statistic to me. My mother was part of it. 107,000 people a year is not an abstraction when you have sat with the grief of losing someone to a disease with treatable options. Technology and real clinical care can move that number. That is what I am working on.

80%
of People with Addiction Never Receive Treatment

The gap between suffering and treatment is a systems problem. Access, cost, stigma, and misinformation keep people from care that exists and works. Every platform and program I build is designed to close that gap somewhere.

60–80%
Opioid Abstinence Rates in Ibogaine Studies

Peer-reviewed research on Ibogaine continues to show outcomes that mainstream pharmacotherapy cannot match. Advocating for responsible access, rigorous research, and sound clinical frameworks is not radical — it is the next logical step in evidence-based medicine.

Potential of Technology + Human Care

AI and digital therapeutics are beginning to reshape what personalized care can look like. I am building tools in this space because the combination of good technology and skilled clinicians can reach people that neither could reach alone.

Writing

Perspectives on Healing,
Technology & Recovery

My thinking on ibogaine-assisted treatment, digital health technology, and what it takes to close the access gap in addiction care.

What I Learned Going Through Ibogaine Treatment for Addiction

In 2017, I went through an Ibogaine treatment in a clinical setting. I was not expecting it to change my direction in life. This is what actually happened — and why the peer-reviewed research showing 60–80% opioid abstinence rates does not surprise me at all.

Why I'm Building Technology for Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy

The science of psychedelic-assisted therapy is advancing faster than the systems built to deliver it. AI, digital therapeutics, and connected health platforms are the infrastructure layer this field is missing. That is the problem Quelm is built to solve.

The Addiction Treatment Access Problem and Why Technology Can Fix It

80% of people with addiction never receive treatment. The barriers are systemic: cost, stigma, geography, and a lack of trusted information. My mother was one of those 80%. Every product I build is aimed at moving that number.

"I lost my mother to a disease that could have been treated. I was shown a path to healing that most people never find. Those two facts gave me one responsibility: build the bridges others couldn't, so no one has to face what she faced — or what I faced — without a way through."
